The Legends of the Mysterious Play is a series of light novels that delve into the backgrounds of the Celestial Warriors from the Fushigi Yûgi universe. Written by Megumi Nishizaki and illustrated by Yuu Watase, these thirteen novels explore the lives and histories of the warriors before their appearances in the original manga.
Spanning five years of publication, the novels primarily focus on untold stories and past events that shaped the characters. Two of the novels, set after the events of the manga, later served as the basis for an original video animation. Originally published by Shogakukan, the series has not been licensed for an English release.
