Nenbutsu Monogatari

In 13th-century Japan, a young monk named Shinran Shounin dedicates his life to understanding the teachings of Pure Land Buddhism. He travels across the country, seeking wisdom and spreading the message of salvation through faith in Amida Buddha. His journey brings him into contact with common people suffering under the rigid social and religious structures of the time.

As Shinran's following grows, he faces opposition from established Buddhist sects and political authorities who see his teachings as a threat. Alongside his disciple Rennyo, who later carries on his legacy, Shinran must navigate persecution and personal trials while remaining steadfast in his belief that true enlightenment is accessible to all, regardless of status or background.
