Super Kaguya-hime! smartwatches sell out pre-orders at TiCTAC

Two of the three GARRACK collection models are no longer accepting orders at the Japanese retailer, weeks before their October 23 release.

The Super Kaguya-hime! smartwatch collection is not your typical anime merchandise. GARRACK opened pre-orders on October 2 and two of the three models are already sold out at TiCTAC's online store, the Japanese retailer confirmed. Each unit costs ¥39,600, with a release date set for October 23.

TiCTAC shows the Iroha Sakayori and Yachiyo Tsukimi models as sold out after filling their reservation quotas. Kaguya's remains available. Note: that doesn't mean there's a nationwide shortage. Each retailer receives its own stock allocation, and availability varies at other stores.

But an anime watch selling out pre-orders in Japan, weeks before launch, says something about the crossover between technology and fandom. We're not talking about a keychain with an illustration: we're talking about a device with specs most merchandise watches don't bother to offer.

Serious hardware, fan customization

The GARRACK collection includes three watches based on Kaguya, Iroha Sakayori, and Yachiyo Tsukimi. The display is a 1.82-inch AMOLED, 480 × 408 resolution, with an advertised peak brightness of 2,500 nits. The body measures 42.9 × 38.2 × 9.5 mm and weighs around 27 grams without the strap.

It's not short on sensors: built-in GPS with GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, QZSS, and NavIC support. Also heart rate and blood oxygen monitoring, sleep and stress tracking, and over 100 workout modes. 5 ATM water resistance and IP6X.

The character-themed interface includes activity data, a moon-inspired battery indicator, and a shortcut to play music. The character-themed interface includes activity data, a moon-inspired battery indicator, and a shortcut to play music.

The advertised battery life is what stands out the most: up to 10 days in normal use, seven in heavy use, and four with the always-on display enabled. For a watch with an AMOLED screen of that size, it sounds like a mid-to-high-end figure, not a collector's item.

The anime customization doesn't stop at the strap either. Tapping the character on the watch face randomly changes the illustration. The background animates every second, and the moon-themed battery indicator changes based on the remaining charge. Each version comes with a different song from the movie preinstalled: the Kaguya model includes "Shunkan, Symphony"; the Iroha, "Reply"; and the Yachiyo, "Hoshifuru Umi". There's a shortcut on the watch face that leads to music controls.

Where the demand is

Iroha and Yachiyo selling out before Kaguya isn't an algorithm fluke. In ensemble series, supporting characters with solid fan bases often move merchandise faster than the protagonist, precisely because retailers order fewer units of them. TiCTAC filled its quota for those two models and left Kaguya with available stock.

The takeaway for anyone wanting one before October 23 is clear: check reservation status across multiple retailers. What's sold out at TiCTAC may still be available elsewhere, but the window is closing.

The collection sits at an unusual crossroads: character illustrations and music from the movies aimed at fans, with a functional wearable underneath. GPS, health tracking, a bright display, and multi-day battery life. This isn't the anime watch you put on just for the convention and forget in a drawer.
