Magical★Explorer Blu-ray Launches a CM to Sleep with Ryudi
Aniplex releases an ad for a special BOX that includes an audio track to sleep next to the heroine, with the first volume on sale December 23.
Aniplex released the announcement commercial for the Magical★Explorer Blu-ray, and the pitch is as direct as it sounds: a special BOX to sleep with Ryudi, one of the heroines of the series. The promotional video is already available and confirms that the first volume will be released on December 23, 2026.
This is not the first time a physical release has bet on this type of content. Drama CDs with situational voice scenarios have worked for years as a hook for the Japanese market, especially in light novel adaptations with a strong female cast. The difference here is that the audio is integrated into the Blu-ray itself and sold as a standalone BOX, not as a minor extra inside the disc.
What the special BOX includes
The ad does not detail the exact length of the track or whether more heroines will appear in future volumes. What is clear is the approach: an experience designed to be listened to before sleeping, with Ryudi as the absolute protagonist of the audio. Aniplex has not revealed whether the BOX includes additional merchandise or if the price will be higher than the standard edition.
The strategy is reminiscent of what other franchises like Date A Live or High School DxD did, where each volume included audio tracks with different girls from the cast. The appeal is not in the animation or the visual extras, but in the simulated closeness with the character. For the fan who already buys the Blu-ray, it is one more reason not to skip the physical edition.
The anime and its schedule
Magical★Explorer is the animated adaptation of the light novel of the same name, and this announcement arrives with the series still airing or just finished, depending on when you are reading this. The first volume in physical format goes on sale on December 23, 2026, a date designed to hook into year-end purchases in Japan.
Aniplex has not confirmed how many volumes the series will have in total or whether each one will include a similar audio with a different heroine. That would be the logical move if they want to maintain interest in the next releases, but for now there is only data on the first one.
What strikes me is how the Japanese market keeps finding ways to sell the same content with additional layers. The Blu-ray no longer competes only on image quality or collectibility: it competes on experiences that streaming cannot replicate. Sleeping with Ryudi is not something Crunchyroll is going to offer.
