A mysterious anime is announced on October 18 with Kai Igarashi as director
Aniplex releases a video with the tagline "everyday life changes completely" and confirms the animator's TV debut.
Aniplex announces a new TV anime for October 18 at 9:00 p.m. The studio released a promotional video on October 15 with a single clue: "everyday life changes completely." In the same announcement, it confirms that Kai Igarashi makes his debut as director of a TV series.
Igarashi is an animator and has worked on titles such as Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. His name is tied to action sequences with a very recognizable style, but until now he had not held the position of main director on a TV project.
The video released by Aniplex shows no characters or title. Only images that, according to the studio itself, are built with materials that look like settings from the anime. The piece does not clarify genre, animation studio, or broadcast platform.
An announcement without credits
The campaign kicks off with an enigmatic message. Aniplex has not published an official website or social media accounts for the project. Nor has it given names of screenwriters, character designers, or music composers.
The statement only presents the work as "a new TV anime" and sets the date for the full announcement. Details will be revealed on October 18 at 9:00 p.m.
"Everyday life changes completely."
That phrase is the only plot line accompanying the video. There is no synopsis, no character images, and not a single clue as to whether it is an adaptation or an original story.
Igarashi's debut as director of a TV series is a fact confirmed by Aniplex. His track record as a key animator in action and science fiction productions places the project in a territory the studio has yet to reveal.
Kai Igarashi's background
Igarashi has worked as an animator on works such as Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, where he handled scenes that set the visual pace of the series. His work is known for dynamic animation and very personal cuts.
His move to TV direction is a notable step within the industry. Aniplex puts him in charge of a project with no title and no synopsis, something unusual even for mystery campaigns.
The October 18 announcement will answer the questions. Until then, the studio only leaves a date, a name, and a phrase.
