Robin Mask sings again after 30 years in Kinnikuman

The fourth character song for the anime Kinnikuman: Kanpeki Chōjin Shiso-hen is performed by Robin Mask. Pony Canyon announced that the track, titled Robin Senpō No.29, hits digital distribution on October 29 and marks the character's first new song in about 30 years.

Katsuyuki Konishi, his voice actor, describes the result as a "noble" theme designed for call and response with the audience. "Some people will think: Robin Mask sings!? But I put a lot of love and homage into the old character songs. I'd like you to listen to it as a party," he says in Pony Canyon's press release.

A monthly series of Seigi Chōjin songs

The release is part of a campaign that started on July 29 with Meat-kun's theme. Since then, a new song dedicated to a Seigi Chōjin is published every 29th. Robin Mask is the fourth character to join the series.

The anime adapts the Perfect Origin Chōjin arc, one of the most popular in the original manga. Production I.G handles production, with Mamoru Miyano as Kinnikuman and Akira Kamiya returning as Kinniku Mayumi and Prince Kamehame. Two seasons have aired so far.

Yudetamago's manga —the pen name of writer Takashi Shimada and artist Yoshinori Nakai— began in 1979 in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump. The series is still running, now in Weekly Playboy and Shūpre News, with over 85 million copies in circulation. Volume 94, with Robin Mask in full action, is on sale.

The franchise has a long history in other formats. The anime has been airing since 1983, and the kinkeshi, the rubber figures that accompanied the first boom, sold over 180 million units.

The date: October 29

The release date keeps the campaign's monthly pattern. Pony Canyon does not specify whether the song series will continue after Robin Mask or which characters could join in the coming months.
