Women

A short experimental film co-directed with painter Shigetaka Sawada, this work was created in 35mm format and presented at the 2nd Sogetsu Animation Festival in 1966. The film explores abstract visual compositions through the interplay of color, form, and movement, focusing on the depiction of women. It uses a series of rapidly changing images and layered textures to create a dreamlike, non-narrative experience that challenges traditional animation conventions.

The imagery shifts between fragmented silhouettes, geometric patterns, and fluid organic shapes, evoking a sense of rhythm and transformation. The collaboration between the two artists blends animation techniques with painterly aesthetics, resulting in a unique visual language that emphasizes the emotional and symbolic resonance of the female form.
