Tousan no Kiteki

Yu Sakai, a composer and singer, stumbles upon his fourth-grade diary while visiting his parents' house. The yellowed pages bring back vivid memories of his childhood, dominated by the imposing figure of his fisherman father. To young Yu, his father was a source of fear and awe—a man whose stern presence and dangerous profession made him seem larger than life, always heading out to sea before dawn and returning with the catch of the day.

Now an adult, Yu notices a profound change each time he returns home. His father's back, once so broad and intimidating, appears smaller and smaller with every visit. The passage of time has softened the edges of that formidable figure, revealing a more vulnerable and aging parent. This short anime special, set to the song "Tousan no Kiteki" performed by Yu Sakai himself, explores the bittersweet realization that the people we once feared are simply human, and that growing up means seeing them through new eyes.
