Kyosuke Murata grows up under the strict control of his overprotective mother, Shizuko, after his father abandons the family when he is very young. As an adult, his life takes a violent turn when his mother becomes entangled in a gang-related crime, thrusting him into the brutal world of the Japanese underworld.
In his quest for answers, Kyosuke confronts the Murata-gumi organization, only to discover that its leader is his estranged father. Rising through the ranks, he unites half of Japan's gangs under his command, but the other half band together to oppose him, igniting the greatest gang war in Japanese history.
