Neko to Nezumi
猫と鼠
An old mouse gathers a group of young mice to deliver a solemn warning about the constant threat posed by cats. The elder mouse explains the many dangers that lurk in every corner, urging the youngsters to stay vigilant and avoid any risky behavior that might attract feline attention. Despite the seriousness of the speech, one particularly bold young mouse decides to ignore the advice and sneaks off to play a prank inside a private house.
Inside the house, the young mouse's mischief quickly goes awry. While attempting to carry out the prank, the mouse loses its balance and falls into a large water bowl. Struggling to stay afloat, the mouse cries out for help. Hearing the commotion, the other young mice rush to the scene and work together to pull their friend from the water, just in time to avoid drowning.
No sooner is the mouse rescued than a cat appears, drawn by the noise. The cat attacks the group, forcing them to flee in panic. The young mouse that caused the trouble manages to escape, but only by crawling away with a battered and bruised body, having learned a harsh lesson about the consequences of recklessness.
