Curious Tales of a Temple

Pu Songling, a young scholar, is forced to spend the night at the eerie Lanruo Temple after encountering danger on his journey. There, he is captured by two monsters, a toad and a turtle, and taken to the bottom of an ancient well.

The spirits demand that Pu Songling judge the quality of the stories they tell, competing to impress him. As classic tales from Chinese folklore unfold—including "The Taoist Priest of Mount Laoshan," "Lotus Princess," "Nie Xiaoqian," "Painted Skin," and "Lady Lu"—the scholar must navigate this bizarre contest and eventually share a story of his own.
