Kikyuu

A music video for the song 'Kikyuu' by the band People in the Box, animated by Ryu Kato. The visuals follow a solitary balloon as it drifts through a surreal, dreamlike landscape. The balloon floats over vast, empty fields, past abandoned structures, and through skies that shift in color and texture. Strange, silent figures appear along the way, each one motionless and lost in their own world, creating a sense of isolation and quiet contemplation.

The balloon's journey becomes a metaphor for longing and disconnection, as it passes through scenes that feel both familiar and distant. The animation blends soft, hand-drawn lines with fluid motion, capturing the melancholy and beauty of the song. Without dialogue or narrative, the imagery alone tells a story of a fleeting connection between the balloon and the figures it encounters, leaving the viewer to interpret the meaning of each encounter.
