In 1922, a short animated advertisement was created for Nakayama Taiyodo's Club Cosmetics soap. The film features a woman washing her face with the soap, which transforms into a radiant, flower-like visage. This simple yet striking visual sequence was designed to promote the product's beautifying effects.
The advertisement is considered one of the oldest surviving examples of Japanese animation, and it is speculated to have been produced by pioneering animator Seitarou Kitayama. As a promotional piece, it represents an early intersection of commercial advertising and animation in Japan.
