Artificial Paradise
人工の楽園
A disorienting display of reproduced imagery from magazines and posters of sunny beaches and bikini models fills the screen. Psychedelic and at times sinister music by Shinpei Kikuchi accompanies the visuals, which are created through positive and negative reprographic prints onto transparent cel sheets. The layers are twisted in different directions to generate a moiré effect.
The artist, Tanaami, explains that this paradise only exists in the world of reproduction. The film presents a surreal and hypnotic exploration of artificiality, where familiar images of leisure and beauty are distorted and multiplied, creating a dreamlike and unsettling experience.
