Ishiyama-dera Digital Engi Emaki

The Ishiyama-dera temple in Ōtsu launches a project to adapt its ancient illustrated scrolls into a CG anime. The first story follows the temple's founder, Rōben, as he encounters the deity Hira Myōjin, who appears in the form of an old man and delivers an oracle to construct the temple.

The anime is part of the "Ishiyama-dera Digital Engi Emaki Project," bringing to life one of the 33 tales from the seven scrolls. These scrolls, designated an Important Cultural Property, include scenes like Murasaki Shikibu's inspiration for *The Tale of Genji* while viewing Lake Biwa.
