Hato yo: Hiroshima no Sora wo

A middle school boy in Hiroshima dedicates his free time to raising and training carrier pigeons, a hobby that brings him joy and a sense of purpose. One fateful morning, he leaves the city with his favorite pigeon to practice their flights, unaware that the atomic bomb is about to be dropped. The explosion obliterates his home and neighborhood, leaving him stranded outside the devastated urban landscape.

As he rushes back into the smoldering ruins, he is determined to find his mother, who was at home when the bomb fell. His pigeon, equally driven by instinct, searches for its own chick among the debris. Together, the boy and the bird navigate through the chaos, encountering other survivors and witnessing the immense suffering caused by the blast. Their parallel quests for reunion highlight the deep bond between humans and animals in the face of tragedy, as they cling to hope amidst the overwhelming destruction.
