A Japanese rendition of the classic Neapolitan song "Funiculì funiculà" is brought to life through shadow play animation. Originally composed by Luigi Denza with lyrics by Peppino Turco, the piece was adapted for Japanese audiences and performed by the Osaka Sumiyoshi Boys and Girls Choir.
The visual accompaniment features shadow puppetry from the Kakashiza Shadow Play Theatre, creating a unique audiovisual experience. This special broadcast was part of NHK's Minna no Uta program in June 1970, offering a cultural fusion of Italian music and Japanese artistic tradition.
