Five Fire Fish

In a surreal underwater world, five fire fish swim through a dark, dreamlike ocean. Their glowing bodies illuminate the depths as they move in a mysterious dance. The short animation follows these luminous creatures as they navigate their environment, created through a collaboration between Japanese animator Kouji Yamamura and the National Film Board of Canada.

The fish encounter strange shapes and shifting shadows, their journey becoming a visual exploration of light and darkness. Without dialogue, the film relies on its hand-drawn animation and atmospheric sound to tell a story of isolation and connection in an abstract seascape.
