Donbe's Story

Researcher Mutsugoro moves his family to a remote island near Hokkaido to study the local wild bear population. The island is pristine, but their peaceful life is disrupted by the presence of nearby poachers who threaten the bears' habitat. One day, the family finds an orphaned bear cub and decides to take it in, naming it Donbe.

As Donbe grows up under the family's care, the conflict between the researcher's scientific mission and the poachers' greed intensifies. The family must navigate the challenges of raising a wild animal while protecting the bears from those who would harm them. Donbe's bond with the family is tested as outside forces threaten their fragile coexistence.
