The official website of Toaru Anbu no Item has released the creditless videos for the series' opening and ending. The opening uses "Ghost Sequence" by East Of Eden, alternating everyday scenes of the protagonists with their combat abilities. The ending, "Meltdowner" by Kishida Kyoudan & The Akeboshi Rockets, highlights the harsher side of the missions the group receives.

The anime premiered on October 9, 2026 on TOKYO MX, BS11, and AT-X. The animation is handled by J.C.STAFF, directed by Tatsuyuki Nagai, with series composition by Shogo Yasukawa. The story adapts the light novels by Kazuma Kamachi, published by Dengeki Bunko, within the universe of Toaru Majutsu no Index.

Item's routine and combat

The opening shows the four members of Item in their daily lives: moments as normal girls inside Academy City. Then, the montage shifts to action. Mugino Shizuri's Meltdowner powers appear, along with Frenda Seivelun's explosives and traps, Kinuhata Saiai's defense, and Takitsubo Rikou's tracking. Hanano Choubi, the fifth girl who crosses paths with them, is also seen using her disguises.

The ending goes down a different path. Over Kishida Kyoudan & The Akeboshi Rockets' heavy, aggressive theme, the visuals emphasize the protagonists' strength and the brutality of the missions assigned to them. The series focuses on Item, one of the dark side organizations of Academy City, and the arrival of that fifth member who drags them into a new crisis.

"It's a story about the daily life, bonds, and deep darkness of girls with rather peculiar powers, stained with violence, cruelty, and immorality," reads the official introduction.

Where to watch and who's making it

In addition to the television broadcast, the anime is available on several Japanese platforms. ABEMA offers it from October 9, and services like d Anime Store, DMM TV, Hulu, and U-NEXT added it on October 16. There is no licensing announcement for Spain yet.

The main cast includes Ami Koshimizu as Mugino, Aya Suzaki as Takitsubo, Maaya Uchida as Frenda, and Chinatsu Akasaki as Kinuhata. Hana Hishikawa plays Hanano. The music is by Maiko Iuchi, a regular in the Toaru universe.

The original novels have seven published volumes. The manga adaptation, with art by strelka, has two volumes on the Japanese market.

Both videos are now available on the anime's official channel. What do you think of the opening and ending? You can comment below.
