Minori Fujidera joins The Eternal Fool's Words of Wisdom anime as Rina

The team behind The Eternal Fool's Words of Wisdom (Yūkyū no Gusha Asley no, Kenja no Susume) anime announced on Monday a new cast member: Minori Fujidera will voice Rina, a young woman living in the ruined village of Falltown. The series will premiere in January 2027.

Rina is a hardworking girl who fights with a sword and also hides an innate talent for magic. The announcement didn't stop at the cast: the anime's main visual was also released, along with two commemorative illustrations, one by Kurihito Mutō, illustrator of the original novels, and another by Fuh Araki, author of the manga adaptation.

A cast that already had two confirmed names

Fujidera joins Toshiyuki Toyonaga, who will play protagonist Asley, and Yōko Hikasa, who will voice Pochi, his level 100 canine familiar. With Rina's addition, the main cast now stands at three names, a different profile from the eternally young sorcerer and his four-legged companion.

The story starts from a simple premise: a couple thousand years of solitude would wear down any young man, except Asley, an eternally young and eternally foolish sorcerer. When Pochi demands he go out and get some fresh air for the first time in two centuries, Asley tries to reintegrate into society and put his magic to the test. His mission, not very glamorous, consists of getting rid of several unimpressive titles and restoring his reputation.

From web novel to anime, via manga

Hifumi began publishing the original story on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in January 2015 and finished it in September 2019. Taibundo Publishing released the first print volume in September 2015 with illustrations by Mutō, and the fourteenth and final one arrived in December 2019.

Fuh Araki's manga adaptation launched on Earth Star Entertainment's Comic Earth Star website in April 2017. The thirteenth compiled volume was published on February 12, and J-Novel Club released the tenth volume in English on September 9. The manga is also available on the Crunchyroll Manga app.

The anime will arrive with Yūsaku Murakami as director of photography, one of the names appearing in Monday's announcement. The January 2027 premiere is already set.
