Katana Maidens: Toji No Miko arrives on Crunchyroll India with English subtitles

Katana Maidens: Toji No Miko is now available on Crunchyroll India. The platform adds the complete series with Japanese audio and English subtitles, as confirmed by the announcement reported by IGN India. The anime, produced by Studio Gokumi, originally aired between January and June 2018.

The story follows the Toji, shrine maidens authorized to carry swords and use supernatural abilities to fight the Aradama, hostile creatures that threaten humanity. Five schools across Japan train these girls for official missions beyond the capabilities of the civilian population.

The core focus is on Kanami Etou, a talented swordswoman studying at one of these institutions. Her participation in a tournament bringing together the best students from the five schools takes an unexpected turn: what starts as a fencing exhibition leads to a broader conflict between Toji and Aradama factions. The truth about the supernatural threats unfolds over the 24 episodes.

The anime combines sword combat, school drama, and a mystery tied to the history of the Toji.

An original project with no prior manga

Unlike most series of the season, Toji No Miko does not adapt a manga or light novel. It was born as an original project created by Gokaden Keikaku. Studio Gokumi handled the animation, with Genco as co-producer. Direction was handled by Kōdai Kakimoto, scripts by Tatsuya Takahashi, and music by Yukari Hashimoto.

The universe later expanded with a manga adaptation illustrated by Sakae Saito, a mobile game, and the short-form spin-off Mini Toji, which premiered in 2019.

Availability in India

The arrival on Crunchyroll India expands the reach of a series that, outside Japan, has had uneven distribution. The platform offers the original version with English subtitles. There is no mention yet of it joining other regional catalogs.
