Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 is now on Netflix with new protagonists
The Studio TRIGGER sequel arrives with ten episodes and a standalone story centered on Weak, a former Night City legend.
Netflix releases today, October 20, 2026, the second season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. The new installment, with ten episodes, tells a standalone story within the Cyberpunk 2077 universe and features a completely new cast of protagonists.
CD PROJEKT RED and Studio TRIGGER return to Night City with a story of redemption and revenge. The official teaser had already confirmed the date, and the platform describes this sequel as a visually refreshed take.
The new cast is led by Weak, a former legend searching for purpose after losing his place in the city. According to the official synopsis from CD PROJEKT RED, Weak was once known as King and stood at the top. Now he lives in the shadow of that fame and must move forward without his cybernetic implants.
A new cast for a story of downfall
Weak's path crosses with D, a nomad seeking revenge for the destruction of his clan. Also entering the scene are Roman Carax, a young film buff determined to document the lives of others, and Talia, connected to the Maelstrom gang. The series weaves their ambitions and conflicts together within the same city.
Creator and writer Bartosz Sztybor explained to GamesRadar+ the difference from the first installment. If that one followed a zero-to-hero arc, this one reverses the direction: Weak allows for exploring the decline of someone who already had recognition.
That comparison connects both series through the consequences of living in Night City. Weak's premise revisits those questions from another point in his life: the wear and tear after success.
The team behind the sequel
Kai Ikarashi directs this installment and Kanno Ichigo leads character design. Sztybor and Masahiko Otsuka, responsible for the story of the first series, return to the creative team, as confirmed by CD PROJEKT RED.
The first season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners premiered on Netflix in 2022 and became one of the most talked-about anime series of the year, with its mix of action, neon aesthetics, and an ending that left a mark. This sequel arrives four years later with a story that does not pick up the previous characters, but instead expands the world from another angle.
All ten episodes are now available on Netflix.
