Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 premieres today, October 20, 2026, on Netflix with all 10 episodes available at once. The sequel to the Trigger and CD Projekt RED anime arrives with a completely new story, a different cast, and a darker tone than the first season.

This isn't a standard second season. The production itself makes that clear: it's a standalone story within the Cyberpunk 2077 universe. David Martinez's crew doesn't return, so there's no need to have seen the first installment to dive into this new batch of episodes.

Four new protagonists in Night City

The main group is made up of four characters who arrive in Night City for very different reasons. Weak Kingsley was a legend among edgerunners, but now lives without his cybernetic implants and searches for a reason to keep going in a city that no longer pays him any attention. The hacker D is hunting down those responsible for the destruction of her clan, and her revenge leads her to uncover corporate secrets she shouldn't know.

Alongside them are Roman Carax, a young film buff obsessed with analog products who wants to document the reality of Night City with his camera, and Talia Yang, raised between corporations and the Maelstrom gang. The series is presented as a story of redemption and revenge, with a tone the production describes as sadder and more violent than its predecessor.

Trigger returns, but with a new director

Studio Trigger is back on animation duties alongside CD Projekt RED, though there's a change in the director's chair. Igarashi Kai takes over after working on storyboards and animation supervision for episode 6 of the first season and directing Tengoku Daimakyou. He replaces Imaishi Hiroyuki, director of the original installment.

Kanno Kazuki is the main character designer. The team also includes returning screenwriter Bartosz Sztybor, who also serves as producer and project supervisor, and Otsuka Masahiko.

A voice cast with surprises

Actor Wu Yanzu joins the project to voice Kirill Yang. In the Japanese version, Tonegawa Kentaro plays Weak, Uchiyama Kouki plays D, Terasawa Momoka plays Roman, and Aoi Koga plays Talia. The English dub includes Clancy Brown, among others.

All 10 episodes unlocked at the same time worldwide at 12:00 a.m. Pacific Time on October 20. A release designed for binge-watching in one sitting, as many of us already did with the first batch in 2022.
