In the year 20××, the Japanese government experimentally revives the exile system in response to the ever-increasing number of violent criminals. Sixty-two convicts whose crimes were deemed worthy of the death penalty are instead sent to a remote island known as "Lawless Island," where they must fend for themselves.
A young man arrives on this island after his family was brutally murdered and he was falsely accused of the crime. Faced with a situation far more horrifying than he could have imagined, he must navigate a lawless society where survival is the only rule and trust is a luxury he cannot afford.
