British publisher Titan Manga has announced the license for Dominating at the Academy of Returned Heroes, a fantasy series that will hit shelves with its first volume on August 3, 2027. Pre-orders are now open on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books A Million, and Forbidden Planet for the UK and Europe.

The manga is drawn by Iwaba and adapts the light novel series written by Chiaki Konno and illustrated by Fame. The story begins when a hero returns to Earth after surviving a brutal war in another world and training under a demon king of unimaginable power. Far from finding peace, he ends up enrolled in an academy for returned heroes where strength defines each student's status.

For most students, the academy is a testing ground. For the protagonist, everything falls below his level. As rankings come into play and rivalries erupt, his overwhelming power begins to destabilize the school's fragile hierarchy. What was meant to be a system of order turns into chaos, and beneath the surface, threats and hidden truths start to emerge, suggesting that the world he left behind isn't done with him yet.

From light novel to manga in Young Champion

The original light novels were published by Hobby Japan on November 1, 2021, with four volumes available through May 2023. Its Japanese title is Saikyo no Mao ni Kitaerareta Yusha Isekai Kikanshatati no Gakuen de Muso Suru, a mouthful that sums up the premise quite well: a hero trained by the strongest demon king dominates the academy of those who have returned from another world.

The manga adaptation debuted in Akita Shoten's Dokodemo Young Champion magazine in March 2022 and later moved to the web service YanChan Web. Five collected volumes have been published as of December 2025, so Titan Manga has plenty of material to release installments on a regular schedule.

It's a setup that strongly recalls works like The Eminence in Shadow or Misfit of Demon King Academy: absurdly powerful protagonists who enter school environments designed to measure heroes' levels and break them without breaking a sweat. The difference here is that the protagonist doesn't hide his strength—he simply has more than the academy can offer.

What to expect from the first volume

Titan Manga describes the volume as the start of a story where the returned hero doesn't seek recognition, but his mere presence changes the rules of the game. The ranking challenges, rivalries, and secrets hinted at beneath the surface suggest it won't just be a string of fights—the plot will gradually reveal what happened in that other world and why the protagonist came back so changed.

The publisher hasn't yet specified whether the release will be in paperback, softcover, or digital format, or whether there will be a special edition. What's clear is that pre-orders are already live at major online retailers, which is usually a good sign for those who want to secure the volume from day one.

With the announcement made in mid-October, there are nearly ten months to go until the release. More than enough time for Titan Manga to share more details about the edition, pricing, and whether there will be an accelerated release schedule to catch up with the five volumes already available in Japan.
