Hirosaki Launches Saijaku Maō no Shinimodori Saiseitan, Her New Manga
The artist behind Akuyaku Ōji no Eiyūtan debuts a new story with Hare Tori on script on the HERO'S website.
The artist Hirosaki already has a new project. On October 7, Saijaku Maō no Shinimodori Saiseitan (The Tale of the Rebirth of the Weakest Demon Lord and His Return by Death) began, a manga written by Hare Tori and published on Hero's Inc.'s HERO'S website, formerly Comiplex.
The news comes after Hirosaki wrapped up in March 2025 her adaptation of Ryū Hidari's novels, Akuyaku Ōji no Eiyūtan (The Heroic Tale of the Villainous Prince). That manga started in July 2023 on KadoComi, under the Dengeki Comic Regulus label, and Kadokawa published three collected volumes.
A Demon King Who Returns from Death
The new series follows Krom, the second Demon King. And mind you, his situation is far from enviable: he's weaker than the Seven Demon Generals who protect the Demon King. Things go completely wrong when the Seven Heroes, the demons' mortal enemy, invade the territory and wipe out everyone, including the generals and Shia, Krom's most loyal servant.
Krom, crushed by shame, takes his own life to join his people. But instead of the end, he wakes up one year before his death. From there, his own death becomes his greatest weapon: he knows what's going to happen and has twelve months to prepare for the catastrophe.
The premise is reminiscent of other titles where the protagonist goes back in time after dying, but the hook here is that Krom is not a hero or a chosen one: he's someone who already lost once and now plays with a marked deck.
The Return of an Artist with a Track Record
Hirosaki is no stranger to those who follow light novel adaptations. Her version of Akuyaku Ōji no Eiyūtan gave her international visibility thanks to Yen Press's English edition, whose third volume came out on July 28. Now she changes tone and publisher: from KadoComi to HERO'S Web, and from a story of villainous princes to one of demons and second chances.
For now, the manga is only available in Japanese through the HERO'S website. There's no news about a possible English license or a print edition. It hasn't been announced how many chapters it will have or whether there will be an anime adaptation.
We'll have to keep an eye on the coming months. If the series takes off, it wouldn't be surprising to see it make the leap to other languages, as happened with Hirosaki's previous work.
