Kaiju Decode: The Ring of Aidara is part of the Kaiju Decode transmedia project, which started at the 2019 Tsuburaya Convention and has already led to an animated short and a virtual reality experience. Now the project makes the leap to feature film with this co-production between Tsuburaya, the house of Ultraman, and Toei Animation.
The plot, as described by the Sakai Film Office, centers on two characters who live in opposite worlds. Maru is a young man who lives in the City, a peaceful society freed from the restrictions of body, mind, space, and time. Coco, on the other hand, belongs to the Aidara tribe and lives in the Zone, a hostile territory inhabited by colossal beasts. The film tells how two opposing characters search for a path toward a shared future.

Staff and cast
Direction is handled by S/N, and production is credited to ARECT and Toei Animation. The script is written by Katsuie Shibata. Kaiju design is by Masayuki Goto of Tsuburaya Productions, known for his work as Gridman designer on SSSS.GRIDMAN.
Character designs are split between two names. Sei Nakashima designs Maru, while Masatsugu Saito, character designer of Expelled from Paradise, handles Coco. The announced cast includes Aya Yamane as Maru and Karin Takahashi as Coco.
In October 2025, the Sakai Festival collaborated with Kaiju Decode to organize a series of exclusive events in the city, a way to warm up the ground for the premiere. The Sakai Film Office website promises regular updates until the film hits theaters next year, and the exact date and screening locations are expected to be confirmed in the coming months.

I'm more interested in that contrast between the City and the Zone than in the size of the kaiju. If both characters have reasons to distrust each other, something good could come out of it. Hopefully the CG helps distinguish those two worlds.
