Erica Sakurazawa Launches Watashi no Manga (Mayoi) Michi on November 6

Erica Sakurazawa has a new manga. The author will launch Watashi no Manga (Mayoi) Michi in the next issue of Shodensha's Feel Young magazine, which goes on sale November 6. The magazine itself announced it in its October issue.

The title roughly translates to "My (Lost) Path to Manga," and the interesting part is that it won't be a fictional story: it will be essays about the behind-the-scenes of "that era." It's not yet clear what period she's referring to exactly, but coming from Sakurazawa, it sounds like she'll talk about her years as a manga artist in the industry.

It's an interesting move because Sakurazawa is no ordinary author. She's been publishing for decades, and her yuri manga Love Vibes inspired a live-action film in 2010, Kakera: A Piece of Our Life. Additionally, her work Koi wa Okane ja Kaemasen ended in November 2022 with four collected volumes.

Her most recent manga is still ongoing

The author hasn't been inactive. Since June 2024, she's been publishing Paris 1921―Sasori-za no Onna to Shishi-za no Onna on Sekaibunkasha's Kateigaho.com website. That manga focuses on French painter Marie Laurencin and designer Coco Chanel, and its first volume came out in October 2025.

So now she's juggling two very different projects: a historical work about two real figures and a more personal look at her own craft. For those of us who follow her career, this new essay manga looks very promising.

We'll have to see if Watashi no Manga (Mayoi) Michi ever makes it to Latin America. There's no licensing announcement yet, and it's also unknown how many chapters it will have or whether it will be collected into volumes.
