Overlord: New World Manga Goes on Hiatus Due to Matsuki's Hospitalization

The Overlord: New World manga is going on hiatus. Its artist, Matsuki, has announced that he will be hospitalized and will need time to recover afterward, so the series is stopping for now.

The news came from Matsuki himself on his X account, where he explained the situation to readers. The message leaves no room for doubt: it's time to take care of himself and recover before returning to the drawing board.

The manga is published on the Kadocomi platform. The original story is by Maruyama Kugane and character designs are handled by so-bin, the same names behind the light novels the series is based on.

A Break at the Worst Possible Time

What stings most for fans is the timing. Matsuki knows it and says it plainly: the Sacred Kingdom arc had just begun. Right now, with the plot kicking off, the series has to stop.

In his statement, the artist apologizes for the interruption and admits he's frustrated to have to pause at this point. But he also makes it clear he'll be back. It's not a goodbye, it's a see you later.

"I will draw again, no matter what. Please bear with me a little longer," Matsuki essentially says, promising to resume the series once he has fully recovered.

No Return Date Yet

For now, there's no schedule. The series' return is up in the air and will be announced when the artist is ready to get back to a regular publishing pace. Matsuki also mentioned he'll use this forced break to better prepare the upcoming chapters.

Health comes first. Manga readers are familiar with these hiatuses: Hunter × Hunter has made breaks a trademark, and Berserk went through something similar with Kentaro Miura's health. It's always a cold splash of water, but also a reminder that the author is human.

For now, all we can do is wait. Once Matsuki recovers and a date is set, we'll know when Overlord: New World continues.
