In the early 1960s, Osamu Tezuka, already a legendary manga artist, takes on an unprecedented challenge: producing Japan's first weekly television anime. At his studio Mushi Production, he assembles a team of young, passionate, and sometimes reckless creators. Together, they set out to adapt Tezuka's own manga, Astro Boy, into a half-hour animated series.
Facing tight schedules, limited budgets, and a complete lack of established methods for TV animation, the team must invent new techniques from scratch. Their struggle to pioneer production processes and define the visual language of television anime becomes a race against time, testing their creativity and resolve.
