Narushima Nanase has always been able to see spirits, a gift that sets her apart from her childhood friend Tamura Taliho. Taliho, an incredibly cute schoolgirl, unknowingly attracts spirits wherever she goes, though she cannot see them herself. Despite Nanase's warnings, Taliho remains skeptical about the supernatural world around her.

One night, Taliho accidentally breaks a seal on their school campus, releasing a spirit trapped within. The spirit is Amagi Ako, a former student who died years ago and has been confined to the grounds ever since. Rather than being hostile, Ako befriends Nanase and Taliho, but mistakes Nanase for his father. As they investigate, they discover that Nanase's parents may have a connection to Ako's imprisonment, unraveling a mystery that ties the past to the present.
