A tiny white fish drifts into view, only to be swallowed whole by a larger fish. That fish is then devoured by an even bigger one, and the cycle repeats as each predator becomes prey in turn. The chain of consumption escalates rapidly, with fish growing larger and larger until only a single enormous white fish remains. This giant fish then begins to shrink in size as it swims downward, eventually leaving the frame. Once it disappears, the entire process starts over again, with a new small white fish entering the scene to begin the cycle once more. The film is a simple, wordless loop that explores the endless cycle of life and death in the ocean, where every creature is both hunter and hunted. Through its minimalist animation and repetitive structure, it creates a meditative rhythm that reflects the natural order of the sea. The short was part of a series of animated films shown at the Ghibli Museum in Mitaka, designed to captivate audiences with its elegant simplicity and universal theme.
