Hikaru no Go x Animate: 'Sheep Edition' special sale from December 4 to 20

Ten stores and Animate's website will offer 10 new products featuring illustrations of the characters carrying sheep.

Animate announced a special Hikaru no Go sale with new illustrations. The campaign, called 'Sheep Edition', will run from December 4 to 20, 2026 at ten physical stores and Animate's online shop.

The appeal is in the art. For the first time, the main characters appear carrying sheep in a set of illustrations created specifically for this collaboration. It's not just any redesign: it's pure merchandise, the kind that appeals directly to the collector who already has everything else.

Which characters and products are coming

The campaign focuses on three characters: Shindo Hikaru, Fujiwara no Sai, and Touya Akira. All three star in the new sheep illustrations, and ten different products are being released based on them.

The list includes a bit of everything: large acrylic stands, regular acrylic stands, acrylic cards, pins, round keychains, mini shikishi, stickers in two sizes, an acrylic sheet called 'Acrylic Plate -Waza-' that shows the go board in relief, and clear washi paper folders. The most expensive product is the large acrylic stand at 4,950 yen with tax. The cheapest is the small sticker at 330 yen.

The acrylic cards, pins, and mini shikishi are blind-boxed items. That means you can't choose the design when buying a single unit. If you want the complete collection, the safe route is to buy an unopened box: each box includes all variants. Buying individual pieces can leave you with duplicates, and there's no official secondary market to save you here.

How the gift campaign works

For every 1,100 yen spent on eligible products, Animate gives away a photo card. There are five designs: three individual ones of Sai, Hikaru, and Akira, one of the full trio, and one in chibi version. The design you get is random and cannot be chosen.

It's the classic volume-based bonus system. If you're after a specific design, you'll need to plan your purchase: every 1,100 yen gets you one card, so either you buy a lot or you risk getting duplicates. And heads up: card stock is limited. Even though the campaign runs until December 20, if they run out early, it's over. Animate makes it clear: better to go early.

Not everything in the store's catalog qualifies for the promotion. Online lottery products, capsule machine items, Kumameto goods, some card games, and anything related to 2.5D productions are excluded. If you're buying with the card in mind, confirm at the register that the product applies.

Where you can buy

The participating stores are ten: Ikebukuro, Sapporo, Shibuya, Nagoya, Akihabara, Lacic Fukuoka Tenjin, Osaka Nipponbashi, Yokohama Vivre, Umeda, and Shinjuku. It's not a nationwide campaign: many Animate stores are left out, so if you don't live near one of those ten, the website is your option.

Animate's online store is also participating, which extends the reach to all of Japan. That said, it uses the same random gift system and the same limited stock warning.

As always with these campaigns, Animate warns that conditions may change, be delayed, or be canceled for any reason. They also prohibit reselling the gift cards and prizes. Nothing new, but worth remembering with a franchise as heavily collected as Hikaru no Go.
