Genchi is a young man entrusted with raising a young girl named Maruu. She belongs to the "Rooks," children who are destined to be sacrificed for their country when they turn sixteen. To most people, the Rooks are nothing more than an urban legend, but for Genchi and Maruu, this grim fate is their reality.
As the countdown to Maruu's sixteenth birthday ticks away, Genchi and Maruu must confront the limited time they have together. Bound by duty and affection, they struggle to find meaning and cherish what truly matters before their inevitable separation.
