Tigers Covered With Mud

Otto Carius, a German tank commander and one of the most successful Tiger aces of World War II, destroyed over 150 enemy tanks during his career. After joining the 20th Panzer Division in 1941 during the invasion of Russia, he transferred to the 502nd Tiger Battalion in 1943, fighting at Leningrad and later in the Narva region of Estonia.

This all-watercolor manga, based on Carius's memoirs "Tigers in the Mud," focuses on his exploits in Estonia as he faces the advancing Soviet army. In a unique artistic choice, all characters are depicted as anthropomorphic pigs, adding a surreal layer to the historical narrative.
