Kaiki no Harawata

Kaiki no Harawata

怪奇のはらわた

A collection of four distinct horror stories penned by the master of grotesque, Hideshi Hino. In the first tale, "Zouroku no Kibyou," a man is afflicted with a bizarre and horrifying disease that slowly deforms his body in unimaginable ways, leading him down a path of isolation and despair. The second story, "Genshoku no Kotou," follows a traveler who becomes stranded on a remote island where the very colors of the environment hold a deadly and supernatural power, threatening his sanity and his life.

The third narrative, "Hatsuka Nezumi," delves into the domestic terror of a woman who gives birth to a creature resembling a mouse, forcing her to confront the monstrous nature of her own offspring. Finally, "Mizu no Naka" plunges into the depths of a lake, where a swimmer encounters a terrifying presence lurking beneath the surface, revealing that the water hides secrets far more sinister than anyone could imagine. Each story explores themes of bodily horror, isolation, and the unknown, creating an unsettling atmosphere that lingers long after the final page.
