Half Is More

半分姉弟

Kazumi Mandanda Yoneyama and her brother are mixed-race Japanese, born and raised in Japan to a Japanese mother and a Black French father. Despite this, they are consistently treated as outsiders in their own country. Alongside their mixed-race friends, they navigate the daily reality of microaggressions, misunderstandings, and racism, striving to assert their right to belong.

The siblings' journey is a continuous search for ways to cope and find wholeness in their half-Japanese identities. In a largely homogeneous society, their path is fraught with social trials and the constant challenge of confronting feelings of otherness. Their story explores the complex road toward self-acceptance and coexistence in the face of pervasive adversity.
