The official website for the anime of Zombie no Afureta Sekai de Ore dake ga Osowarenai (In a World Full of Zombies I'm the Only One Who Doesn't Get Attacked) shared a good batch of updates this Saturday. We have new cast members, more staff, a key visual, the musical themes, and the first promotional video. The series will premiere on AT-X in January 2027.

Rikako Itou, known for Mushoku no Eiyuu, joins as Tokiko Kurose. Marie Miyake, from Gin no Saji, will play Sayaka Makiura. With this, the cast is taking shape and we can already get an idea of how the series will sound.

The Opening and Ending Can Already Be Heard in the Trailer

The musical group RetBear, who participated in Kuro no Shoukanshi, is in charge of the opening theme "No Reaction". For the ending theme "Tsukikage", we have the Japanese idol group Itsuka▶. Both songs can be heard in the first promotional video, so there's no need to wait any longer to get a sense of the sonic atmosphere.

On the production side, Kazuya Fujishiro directs the anime at Acca effe and Frontier Engine. Yasushi Hirano supervises the series composition with help from Kayou Shimoyama. The script is handled by Shimoyama and Rumakuto Okimi. Yoshiharu Ishihara designs the characters and ISAO composes the music.

The art team was also confirmed. Ami Takasusuki, You Shinomiya, and Recommendation handle the art design. Shinji Katahira and Shinobu Takahashi are the art directors. Shinobu Hirayama is in charge of color design, Yuuki Sakurai of photography, and Kouki Shinkai of editing.

A Zombie Story That Comes From Way Back

Rokuro Uraji began publishing this supernatural horror novel on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in January 2013. Frontier Works later acquired it and began publishing it under their Nox Novels label in February 2016, with illustrations by Saburou. The third volume was released in March 2017.

The manga adaptation by Chihiro Matsuda started on the Comic Ragchew web service in March 2022. NTT Solmare publishes it on their MangaPlaza platform since September 2024. The fifth compiled volume was released on August 5. Additionally, Robo Kondo launched a spin-off manga in October 2025, and its first volume also arrived on August 5.

We love seeing a story with this premise keep growing. A world full of zombies where the protagonist is the only one they don't attack sounds like an interesting twist within the genre. Now we just have to wait and see how it all plays out on screen when January arrives.
