To LOVEru Releases Parade, a Volume with Unpublished Chapters, on October 2
The short story collection celebrates the manga's 20th anniversary and features Lala on the cover.
The manga To LOVEru -Trouble- adds a new volume to its library. On October 2, To LOVEru -Trouble- Short Story Collection Parade goes on sale, a compilation of short stories that gathers chapters not included in the regular volumes. The news was confirmed by the official account of Kentaro Yabuki, the series' artist, with an image of the cover featuring Lala Satalin Deviluke as the protagonist.
For those unfamiliar with the series, To LOVEru debuted in 2006 in Weekly Shōnen Jump, written by Saki Hasemi and illustrated by Yabuki. The story begins with Rito Yuki, a boy who tries to confess to his classmate Haruna but ends up accidentally confessing to Lala, an alien who appears naked in his bathtub. From there, the manga becomes a romantic comedy with plenty of fanservice and a harem that grows out of control.
This volume arrives just as the franchise turns two decades old. The publisher notes it in its promotion: "In fact, it has been 20 years since the serialization began." It's no small anniversary for a series that had two anime adaptations, several OVAs, and a direct sequel, To LOVEru Darkness, which ended in 2017. Yabuki, for his part, moved on to Ayakashi Triangle and is now working on other projects.
What Parade Brings
The volume's name is no coincidence. Parade collects episodes that were left out of the original collected volumes, a format Shueisha uses quite often with its long-running series. In this case, the publisher hasn't detailed how many chapters it includes or which eras they come from, but the cover featuring Lala suggests the material spans from the manga's early years.
Cover of the To LOVEru -Trouble- Parade collected volume, featuring Lala and Rito. The synopsis circulating in Japanese promotion is brief: "Rito's ability, astonishing on its own, becomes even more impressive when combined. Is there any way to stop it?" It doesn't say much, but for those of us who read the series, that's To LOVEru in its purest form: Rito tripping, falling on someone, and unleashing chaos that escalates to the absurd.
The volume is released under the Jump Comics imprint, the same as the main series. The price hasn't been confirmed in the news, but collected volumes of this type usually run around 700-800 yen in Japan. There's no news of an English license for now.
A Launch Among Many
October 2 is a busy day for Shueisha. Alongside Parade, volume 10 of Murabito no Ichi, volume 5 of Samwan Hertz, volume 24 of Akane Monogatari, and volume 27 of Blue Box are also released. Nothing unusual: the publisher concentrates its monthly releases in the first few days, and October is always strong due to the start of the fiscal quarter.
What does stand out is that To LOVEru still has editorial momentum in 2026. The main series ended years ago, Darkness too, and there's no new anime on the way. But Yabuki's catalog sells, and Shueisha knows it. The bunko editions of the original series, ten volumes in a budget format, are being promoted alongside this release so readers can do a full reread.
I grew up with To LOVEru back when fanservice wasn't questioned as much. Seeing Lala on a new cover in 2026 gives me a strange mix of nostalgia and bewilderment. The industry has changed a lot since then, and series like this would have a different reception today. But the manga is still here, twenty years on, and Parade is a way to close the circle for those of us who followed Rito and company from the beginning.
The volume is already on sale in Japan. It remains to be seen whether any English publisher will take a chance on it, though with a franchise this long-running and no recent anime, I wouldn't bet on it.
