The Irregular at Magic High School: Yotsuba Succession Arc Movie Hits Australian Cinemas on October 29
Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment will distribute the film in Japanese with subtitles and with an English dub.
The second The Irregular at Magic High School movie now has a date for Australian theaters. Crunchyroll has confirmed that The Irregular at Magic High School The Movie –Yotsuba Succession Arc– will open in Australian cinemas on October 29, 2026.
The distributor has specified that the film will arrive in two formats: in Japanese with English subtitles and with an English dub. Distribution is handled by Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment.
This feature is the second in the franchise and continues the story right after the third season of the series, which aired in 2024. The first movie, The Irregular at Magic High School: The Movie – The Girl Who Summons the Stars, premiered in 2017.

The official synopsis sets the action nearly a century after magic became established as a real technology. Siblings Tatsuya and Miyuki Shiba are about to enter the winter of their second year of high school.
Tatsuya, the older brother, carries a fatal flaw in his magical abilities. Miyuki, on the other hand, possesses unparalleled talent. The harmony between them is broken with the arrival of a letter: an invitation to the New Year's banquet at the main house of the Yotsuba clan.
There, Maya Yotsuba and the leaders of each branch family will announce who will become the next clan head. Miyuki fears being chosen: if she takes on that role, she will no longer be able to remain unmarried and will have to marry, which would mean giving up her days alongside Tatsuya.
But accepting the position would also give her the chance to change Tatsuya's status, treated with contempt for his role as a Guardian. Hoping to give him freedom, Miyuki makes a decision during the trip to the Yotsuba mansion: "Brother... I will become the head of the Yotsuba clan."
"Brother... I will become the head of the Yotsuba clan."
The synopsis closes with a question that points to the conclusion of the siblings' story: what hidden truth lies between them and what fate awaits them amid the clan's conspiracies.
A Franchise with Staying Power
The Irregular at Magic High School began as a light novel series written by Tsutomu Satō. The anime adaptation kicked off in 2014 with a 26-episode season. Since then, the saga has added more seasons, a feature film, and several specials.
The third season, which precedes this movie, aired in 2024 and adapted several arcs from the novels. The film now arriving in Australia picks up with the Yotsuba succession arc, one of the most significant for the relationship between the protagonists.
For now, Crunchyroll has not detailed whether the Australian release will be part of a broader international rollout or if more dates will follow in other regions. The October calendar is marked, in any case, by the return of Tatsuya and Miyuki to the big screen.
