The Apothecary Diaries: The Late Lady's Treasure Introduces the Seiyuus of the Bi Clan
A new trailer for the film reveals the voices of the characters from Binan-shu, the province Maomao and Jinshi will visit.
The film The Apothecary Diaries: The Late Lady's Treasure has released a new trailer focused on the characters of the Bi clan, the family that rules Binan-shu, the southern province Maomao and Jinshi will travel to in this new story. The video confirms new additions to the voice cast and boosts promotion for a film set to hit Japanese theaters on December 11.
Crunchyroll will handle the film's international distribution, excluding Asia but including India, as announced by the platform itself. The trailer comes after the previous one, which starred Maomao and Jinshi, and serves to expand the cast of a production that keeps the franchise's core team intact.
New voices for the Bi clan
Among the confirmed names, Mariya Ise stands out as Mu Qing, a character who had already been announced previously. The rest of the actors revealed in this promotional material will bring to life members of the Bi clan, the rulers of Binan-shu, although the news does not specify which character each one plays.
The addition of this cast expands the scope of a story that, for the first time in the animated franchise, takes the protagonists out of the palace and into a region built on water. The trailer focuses precisely on these new characters, suggesting that the Bi clan will carry significant weight in the development of the mystery.
An investigation outside the palace
The plot kicks off with a direct order from the emperor to Jinshi: fulfill the last wish of a concubine who died five years earlier and return her remains to her homeland. Upon examining them, Jinshi discovers that they are preserved in an unexpectedly perfect state. The woman looks beautiful, as if she were still alive.
That discovery drives Jinshi to seek answers alongside Maomao in Binan-shu, the province ruled by the Bi clan. There, Maomao will find herbs and medicines she has never seen before, while a threat involving pirates and a hidden treasure puts the mission at risk.
"The curtain rises on a new mystery surrounding a secret treasure hidden in a city built on water."
The official synopsis defines the film's starting point in this way. It adapts material from the light novels written by Natsu Hyuuga and illustrated by Touko Shino, published in Japan by Shufunotomo under the Hero Bunko imprint.
