My Happy Marriage Special Premieres October 25 with Riria Theme Song
The anime confirms its broadcast and releases a trailer focused on Miyo and Kiyoka's wedding.
The new My Happy Marriage (Watashi no Shiawase na Kekkon) special now has a release date. It will premiere on October 25, 2026 on television and streaming, as confirmed by the series' team. The announcement came with a main trailer featuring previously unseen footage, with the wedding as the main focus.
The video features part of "Shiawase de Nakeru no wa." ("What Makes Me Cry with Happiness"), the new opening theme performed by Riria. The artist also shared a comment about her involvement in the project.
Riria confessed she felt enormous pressure taking on the opening theme. "What? The first AND second seasons?!" she wrote, recalling the weight of the franchise. As she explained, My Happy Marriage initially seemed like a happy story to her, but she soon encountered a cruel past and a sadness that struck her deeply. She was captivated by how Miyo and Kiyoka's hearts change, how they grow as a couple, and the charm of everything around them.
The artist went further: she said the animation is so polished that she would love to see it in a movie theater with surround sound. About her song, she explained that she used well-known phrases from the series—"Thanks to you," "A promise of happiness"—to build a new one: "What makes me cry with happiness." Her wish is for the song to accompany the two protagonists in this special and for audiences to enjoy their happiness.
Special Broadcast Schedule
The special will air first on TOKYO MX and other Japanese networks, with the following schedule:
- TOKYO MX: October 25 at 7:00 PM, with a 90-minute runtime.
- BS11: October 26 at 1:00 AM.
- AT-X: October 31 at 7:30 PM.
- Repeat: November 8 at 12:00 AM.
On streaming, Netflix and other platforms will have it available starting at 8:30 PM on October 25, right after the television broadcast.
The announcement does not clarify whether this special serves as a bridge to a third season or as a standalone story. What the trailer makes clear is that the wedding between Miyo and Kiyoka will be the centerpiece. We'll have to see if the adaptation maintains the tone of previous seasons or opts for a more contemplative episode.
