Kyoto Animation brings its mascots together for an event celebrating the end of Hibike! Euphonium
Chiba-kun, Makabe, Iwatobi-chan, and other characters from various KyoAni series will appear at a special screening in Tokyo on October 21.
Kyoto Animation is preparing a very special event to give Hibike! Euphonium the send-off it deserves. The studio announced a greeting screening where several of its most beloved mascots will gather in the same theater, no matter which series they come from.
The event takes place on October 21 at 7:00 PM at the Marunouchi Piccadilly cinema in Tokyo. In attendance will be Chiba-kun from the Hibike! Euphonium saga, Makabe from CITY THE ANIMATION, Iwatobi-chan and Samezuka-chan from Free!, and Inari from Nijusseiki Denki Mokuroku - Eureka Eureka -. All together to celebrate the conclusion of the Kitauji High School concert band's story.
Kyoto Animation characters gathered at the greeting event for the end of Hibike! Euphonium. The event is called KyoAni Characters Greeting and arrives while the second part of Hibike! Euphonium: Saishū Gakushō continues filling theaters in Japan since its premiere on September 11. The idea is clear: to accompany the film's success with a celebration that crosses the boundaries between the studio's works.
A farewell with characters from multiple generations
Seeing Chiba-kun share the stage with Iwatobi-chan isn't something that happens every day. They're characters from different franchises, with different audiences, but all of them were born at Kyoto Animation. The event is a nod to those who have followed the studio for years and recognize each of these mascots instantly.
The screening will feature the second part of Saishū Gakushō, the film that closes eleven years of Kitauji's band story. After the screening, the characters will come out to greet the audience. No photo sessions with them, though: the organizers note that two-person shots with the characters will not be allowed.
Tickets and event details
Tickets cost 3,000 yen, tax included, and are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Online sales begin on October 9 at 10:00 PM on the theater's ticket sales page. If seats remain, the Marunouchi Piccadilly box office will offer them starting at opening on October 10.
There are several important restrictions: discount tickets, coupons, and invitations are not accepted, and advance sale cards cannot be used. The organizers also prohibit resale and note that the characters may change without prior notice.
Saishū Gakushō is the conclusion of the story that began with Ayano Takeda's novel and that KyoAni turned into one of its most beloved sagas. The first part has already premiered, and the second is now in theaters in Japan with new scenes written by Jukki Hanada and directed by Taichi Ogawa, with Tatsuya Ishihara as chief director.
The October 21 event is Japan-only, so for now there's no news of anything similar coming to Latin America. That said, if you're in Tokyo that day, this is a hard-to-repeat opportunity: watching the end of Hibike! Euphonium surrounded by the mascots that accompanied the studio through all these years.
