KID PHENOMENON releases 'I'm still breathing' digitally, the new ending for Mission: Yozakura Family

The single drops on October 12, and the CD arrives on the 21st with two covers of anime classics: 'Silhouette' by KANA-BOON and 'Imagination' by SPYAIR.

KID PHENOMENON already has a date for their new track. 'I'm still breathing', the ending for the second part of the second season of Mission: Yozakura Family, releases digitally on October 12, one day after the anime's new arc premieres.

The song accompanies the series' return, which comes back on October 11 with its second cour. The seven-member group, born from the iCON Z audition program, returns to the franchise after having contributed previous songs to the anime.

The announcement comes with the full breakdown of the physical single, which drops on October 21 in two editions. The regular edition includes the new track and two songs KID PHENOMENON had already performed for anime: '存在証明' and 'Black Flame', remastered for the occasion.

Two covers of classics, a statement of intent

What catches my attention the most is the choice of covers. The regular edition features 'Silhouette', originally by KANA-BOON, a track any Naruto Shippuden fan recognizes instantly. The limited edition, which comes with a DVD, bets on 'Imagination' by SPYAIR, the historic opening from Haikyuu!!.

It's no coincidence. KID PHENOMENON has been building their identity around anime, and putting two such iconic tracks in a single release is a declaration of intent. They want to be associated with that tradition, and in the process they're testing how their style sounds with two compositions that defined a whole generation.

The limited edition also uses exclusive anime artwork for the cover. The DVD includes the creditless ending for this second cour, something collectors appreciate when a theme hooks them.

The group isn't stopping at the release. This month they're touring shopping malls across Japan with their free event 'Purple CirKID Vol.9', and they have major performances confirmed for November and December, including a date at the National Stadium with LDH LIVE-EXPO 2026.

An ending you can already get a taste of

Part of the track already plays in the anime's latest trailer, available on the official YouTube channel. But the full version will be heard for the first time in the October 11 episode, when the series resumes the story of Taiyo and the Yozakura family.

The move to release the song digitally one day after the premiere is logical: the ending sticks in your head, people search for it, and it's already available. No waiting for weeks. In a market where consumption is immediate, that kind of timing matters.

I'm curious about the SPYAIR cover. 'Imagination' is one of those tracks you don't touch lightly, and if it misses the mark, it shows. KID PHENOMENON has the energy to pull it off, but we'll have to see if they manage to respect the original without sounding like a cheap copy.

The single will be available on streaming platforms starting October 12. The CD, with its two editions and the random bonus card, arrives on the 21st.

Are you going to give the ending a listen when it drops? Let me know in the comments whether the KANA-BOON cover or the SPYAIR one wins you over.
