Kakao Entertainment to Merge Kakao Page and Kakao Webtoon by the End of 2026

Kakao Entertainment has confirmed that this year it will complete the integration of Kakao Page and Kakao Webtoon into a single platform. The move will bring together around 16,000 original stories under the Kakao Page umbrella, which remains the main service.

The Korean company has explained that on September 29 it will inform users of both services about the timeline and how the change will be carried out. The integration, however, is scheduled to be completed within this year.

It is not just a matter of catalog. Kakao Entertainment wants to bring together content, usage data, operating systems, and its artificial intelligence tools in one place. The idea is for webtoon readers and web novel readers to coexist in the same space, with a unified reading experience across both formats.

What changes for readers

Until now, Kakao Page operated as a broader content platform, with web novels, comics, and books. Kakao Webtoon, for its part, had inherited Daum Webtoon's network of creators and original comic production. With the merger, that division disappears and everything will be managed from Kakao Page.

The company had already started moving some standout works from Kakao Webtoon to Kakao Page so they would overlap in both catalogs. Now it takes the definitive step and unifies services, resources, and teams. It will also consolidate the creator network, the planning of new intellectual properties, and expertise in adaptations for film, television, theater, or video games.

For readers, the most visible change will be having a single place to follow their series. Kakao Entertainment says it will leverage consumption data to improve recommendations and content discovery systems, with the help of artificial intelligence.

A reorganization looking beyond Korea

The decision comes after Kakao Entertainment reorganized its IP production subsidiaries. It now extends that integration to the platform level, aiming to be more efficient and to prepare for international expansion.

The company plans to connect the story catalog it has accumulated in Korea with Kakao Piccoma, its global platform, to boost overseas distribution. A Kakao Entertainment spokesperson has described the move as part of a strategy to "select and focus" its core capabilities, with an eye on global growth.
