Fate Zero Celebrates 15 Years with a ufotable Crossover Art Featuring The Witch on the Holy Night

ufotable has released a commemorative illustration that brings together Fate Zero and The Witch on the Holy Night. The studio is celebrating the 15th anniversary of the series directed by Ei Aoki and, at the same time, building momentum for the theatrical release of the Type-Moon visual novel adaptation.
Commemorative illustration of the crossover between Fate Zero and The Witch on the Holy Night. The artwork shows Saber wearing the black suit she donned during her alliance with Kiritsugu Emiya in the Fourth Holy Grail War. Beside her is Aoko Aozaki, the witch who stars in The Witch on the Holy Night. There is no narrative crossover between the two works: it is a visual collaboration celebrating two key moments for the studio.
The timing is no coincidence. Fate Zero aired between 2011 and 2012, and its adaptation marked a turning point for ufotable within the Fate franchise. Now, the studio returns to a Type-Moon work with the film based on the visual novel written by Kinoko Nasu and originally published in 2012.
One Studio, Two Type-Moon Universes
The collaboration highlights the relationship between ufotable and Type-Moon, a partnership that has produced adaptations such as The Garden of Sinners (Kara no Kyōkai) and the main Fate saga. In this case, the studio brings together two works that share the publisher's magical backdrop, although each one stands on its own.
«This visual collaboration speaks to the close creative relationship between ufotable and Type-Moon».
The illustration arrives at a time when ufotable has several projects in the works. In addition to The Witch on the Holy Night film, the studio is responsible for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, one of the most profitable franchises in recent anime. The Type-Moon commission marks a return to the roots of a partnership that defined much of its visual identity.
Release in Japan and Latin America
The Witch on the Holy Night film will premiere in Japan on November 20, 2026. For Mexico and the rest of Latin America, the confirmed date is January 28, 2027. The announcement does not specify which distributor will bring the film to theaters in the region.
Kinoko Nasu's original visual novel was released in 2012 and had not received an animated adaptation of this scale since then. The ufotable film is shaping up to be one of the studio's most ambitious projects in recent years, with contemporary magic and traditional Japan as its backdrop.
For now, the commemorative artwork is the only new material that has been shown. It remains to be seen whether the film's promotional campaign will include more crossovers with other Type-Moon works or if this gesture will remain a one-off celebration of Fate Zero's anniversary.
