Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Hits Crunchyroll Six Days Before Netflix

The reimagined version of Super's first three arcs premieres October 11 on Crunchyroll and a week later on Netflix.

Toei Animation is giving Crunchyroll a six-day head start with Dragon Ball Super: Beerus. The new take on Dragon Ball Super's early arcs premieres on the platform on October 11, 2026, the same day it airs in Japan. Netflix, on the other hand, begins its weekly rollout on October 17 in the United States. Netflix's own account confirmed the news, and @animeupdates picked it up on Twitter/X.

This is no small detail. Anyone following the series on Crunchyroll will be discussing each episode while Netflix viewers are still waiting for the premiere. New scenes, redone animation, and key moments will circulate on social media before they reach the other platform. It's the same pattern already seen with One Piece during the Elbaf arc: Crunchyroll first, Netflix a week later.

What Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Actually Is

This is not a new Dragon Ball story. Toei Animation is taking the beginning of Dragon Ball Super and rebuilding it from the ground up. The series covers three arcs: the Beerus or Battle of Gods arc, the Resurrection 'F' arc, and the Universe 6 arc.

Those three blocks introduce key pieces of the Super era. The Beerus arc brings the God of Destruction into Goku's life and introduces the Super Saiyan God transformation. Resurrection 'F' brings back the classic villain. And Universe 6 expands the board with Champa, Vados, Hit, Cabba, and several new Saiyans and alien fighters.

The difference lies in how it's told. The series features redrawn cuts, revised scenes, re-rendered footage, updated sound effects, new voice recordings, and a restructured story. It's not a simple remaster: it's a reconstruction of the source material. If the structure ends up tighter, the early stretch of Super could move forward with less filler and give more room to its standout moments.

The series is expected to run about 19 episodes, though Toei has not officially confirmed that number. If it holds, the three arcs would get a much more focused treatment than in the original 131-episode anime. For those who already know every battle and every transformation by heart, that's the biggest draw: seeing whether the new cut gives Super the start it lacked back in 2015.

A Head Start That Shapes the Conversation

Crunchyroll's advantage is no accident. Toei has been repeating this pattern with its biggest series for a while now. The episode airs in Japan on a Sunday night, and Crunchyroll uploads it the same day. Netflix comes in later, at its own pace. The result is a conversation split in two: part of the fandom has already seen the episode, the other is still waiting.

With Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, that six-day gap could be louder than usual. This is a massive franchise, with scenes that will be shared the moment they drop. If you don't want anything spoiled, you'd better be caught up starting October 11.

The Japanese premiere is confirmed for Sunday, October 11 at 11:15 PM JST, according to the official site. For the rest of the world, the series arrives on Crunchyroll that same day. Netflix starts on October 17 in the United States.
