Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Crashes Crunchyroll on Its Premiere
The 19-episode remake arrived on October 11 and the flood of fans overwhelmed the platform in the United States.
The return of Goku and Beerus has been so massive that Crunchyroll couldn't handle it. The premiere of Dragon Ball Super: Beerus caused outages and connection errors on the platform on October 11, according to dozens of user reports on social media.
The new version of the God of Destruction arc launched that day in the United States, and many fans immediately ran into endless loading times or simply couldn't watch the first episode. Crunchyroll has yet to confirm the cause, but everything points to a massive traffic spike right when the series went live.
This isn't the first time Dragon Ball has broken the internet. In October 2017, episodes 109 and 110 of Dragon Ball Super —when Goku awakens Ultra Instinct against Jiren— also wreaked havoc on streaming platforms worldwide.
What the Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Remake Brings
This project isn't just a simple facelift of the 2015 anime. Toei Animation promised much more:
- New animation and additional scenes.
- Modified sequences and remastered visuals.
- A completely new dub.
- Renewed music and sound effects.
The series will have 19 episodes and restructures three classic arcs: the Beerus story, Frieza's return as Golden Frieza, and the Universe 6 tournament. The pacing will be tighter than the original broadcast, with editing designed to hook viewers from the very first episode.
The opening episode, titled "The God of Destruction," kicks off with Beerus awakening from his slumber. After Majin Buu's defeat, Goku and his friends believed they would finally have peace, but the arrival of the God of Destruction and his overwhelming power changes everything in an instant.
Beerus first appeared in the film Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods (2013) and later became a key piece of the beginning of Dragon Ball Super. His presence marked a turning point: for the first time, Goku faced enemies on a cosmic scale.
Dates and Platforms
The remake is already available on Crunchyroll as of October 11. In the United States, it will arrive on Netflix on October 17, 2026, though Netflix Vietnam has yet to announce its date. There's no official confirmation for Latin America at this time.
And that's not all that's brewing in the franchise. In January 2026, Dragon Ball Super: Galactic Patrol was announced, a project that will continue the story after the Tournament of Power. Between the remake and what's coming, the Dragon Ball calendar is on fire.
