Dr. STONE TERRAFORMING: Anime Sequel Announced
The new project will adapt the bonus story from volume 27 of the manga and continues after the end of the main series.
Just when it seemed like Senku and the Kingdom of Science's adventure had come to an end, here comes the news none of us expected: Dr. STONE TERRAFORMING is real. The anime sequel was officially announced during the STONE FES. 2026 event, held today, and will continue the story right where the main series left off.
The new project will adapt "TERRAFORMING," a bonus story included in volume 27 of the original manga. The TV series wrapped up its adaptation on June 25, 2026, when it aired the final episode of its fourth season, Dr. STONE: SCIENCE FUTURE. Now, that farewell turns out not to be as definitive as we thought.

The announcement came with a promotional video featuring newly recorded dialogue from Senku. Additionally, Yuko Iwasa, the anime's character designer, shared a commemorative illustration to celebrate the news. Everything points to the team wanting to keep the spirit of the series intact in this new chapter.
Riichiro Inagaki, the manga's author, couldn't hide his excitement in the statement he published after the event. "The Dr. STONE anime reached the final chapter of the original manga. I was deeply moved. And yet, somehow there's still more!" he wrote. The author joked that not even the farewell event was actually a farewell, and asked fans to keep following Senku and his friends "just a little bit longer."
He also had words of gratitude for those who attended STONE FES. 2026, for those who followed the live stream, and for everyone who has watched the anime over the years. "I am truly happy to be able to share the joy that the Dr. STONE TERRAFORMING anime is being produced," he added.
The End of One Era and the Start of Another
The Dr. STONE manga, written by Inagaki and illustrated by Boichi, ran for five years and ended on March 7, 2022, with a total of 232 chapters. The anime adaptation began in July 2019 with a first season of 24 episodes, followed by Dr. STONE: STONE WARS in January 2021 and the Ryusui special in July 2022.
The third season, Dr. STONE: NEW WORLD, aired in two parts throughout 2023 and adapted the Treasure Island arc. Right after it ended, the fourth and final season, SCIENCE FUTURE, was confirmed and split into three cours between 2025 and 2026. In total, the adaptation spans 94 TV episodes and one special, making for 95 animated installments that will now continue.
With Dr. STONE TERRAFORMING, the franchise joins a trend we've seen in other major shōnen titles: closing out the main story and returning with bonus content that expands the universe. The difference here is that the material already existed in the manga, so we're not starting from scratch. We'll have to see how many episodes it will have and whether studio TMS Entertainment returns to lead the project.
For now, there's no release date or details about the technical staff. What we do know is that Senku will once again take the lead in science, and we'll be there to see it.
